Speech Therapist - Per Diem - Come Join Our Team!

JOB SUMMARY:

The speech-language pathologist is responsible for implementation of standards of care for speech language pathology services. Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, psychological, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned service area.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must have a California speech language pathologist license and possess a degree which includes an internship from an approved masters program in Speech-Language Pathology, or as required by applicable law an/or regulation.

  2. Meets the education and experience requirements for a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology, granted by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

  3. Is certified to practice Speech-Language Pathology.

  4. Has a minimum of one yearís clinical experience in Speech-Language Pathology.

  5. Possesses and maintains current CPR certification.

JOB DUTIES:

  1. *Conducts appropriate evaluative procedures, assesses home environment (as appropriate) and identifies equipment needs relative to speech/language function.

  2. *Identifies functional speech deficits and establishes goals and plan of care to improve patientís function and participates in planning for discharge.

  3. *Administers speech therapy program utilizing specialized therapeutic technique and/or equipment.

  4. *Recommends communication devices/aids as indicated.

  5. *Confers with referring physician and other organization personnel to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care with the interdisciplinary team.

  6. Has the ability to identify resources to address patient population needs.

  7. As appropriate, participates in case conferences, in-services, discharge planning and other meetings required ensuring coordinated and comprehensive care.

  8. *completes clinical records per office policy or federal/state regulations.

  9. *Maintains clinical competency in speech language pathology practice and theory.

  10. *Instructs patient/family/caregiver and other team members in the patientís treatment regime and outcomes of care as indicated.

  11. Performs other duties as required to facilitate the delivery of speech language pathology services and swallowing assistive services.

  12. May supervise home care aide in procedures directly related to the speech-language therapy plan of care.

  13. Able to supervise paraprofessional as necessary.
